From island adventures to arcade-style games, there are tons of activities waiting here for the dinosaur fan in your house. The latest version of this long-popular program has much improved graphics and animations. The creatures really do come back to life, and since it covers the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods, that includes a lot of creatures.

The guide through the different games is Rolf, a young dino who's the only "cutesy" character in the whole program. To help him find his buddy Pterrance, build a maze with different puzzle pieces--it's a great spatial-abilities builder. After that, children can pick from matching games, platform-style skill games, fossil-assembling puzzles, or just plain exploring.

The 3-D videos are great--exciting and lively without being too scary for the little ones. And with so much information, you'll soon be learning the detailed differences between herbivores and oviraptors just to keep up with your pre-schooler. --Jill Lightner, Amazon.com

- An instant hit with my 5 year old
My son adored the games and puzzles on this CDROM. The graphics are very good, especially the short movies, and the amin character, who the player guides around Paleo Island, is a very likeable sort. The games have several difficulty levels, which means that it can be played by children of different ages, and they can be played alone or as part of the larger quest to defeat the Tyrannosaurus Rex which is terrorising the Island's other inhabitants.

This game had my 3 year old doing little else for weeks, if given the chance. It has a few annoying traits, like the pointer vanishing whenever they are talking, which my boy found frustrating at first, and only runs from the disk, so is a bit slow between scenes. On the whole, it is a good, fun and educational game, and well worth the money

This is a wonderful CD-ROM for young dinosaur fans. My four year old son absolutely loves it and has gained great confidence in using the computer from playing with it. The basic idea is that to defeat the T-Rex which is terrorising the island, you need to collect eggs and hatching crystals. When you have hatched nine eggs the T-Rex is defeated and you get to play from the beginning again.
